Open Evening / Open Days
Longfield Academy opened in September 2008, specialising in Science and the Arts. Development work has just begun towards creating its new, state of the art, purpose-built, £25m building which is scheduled to open in 2011. The purpose-built environment will also provide the students and community with outstanding facilities for lifelong learning, arts-based cultural events and sporting activities.
In August 2009, at the end of its first year, Longfield Academy achieved significantly higher results than any year at the predecessor school with a 75% increase in the percentage of students achieving 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths on the previous year, making it one of the most improved schools in Kent
The Academy also shares very close educational links with the University of Kent which provides unparalleled opportunities for students to learn with and alongside undergraduates, and to make a smooth transition to Higher Education.
We are inviting parents and young people currently in Year 6 who are interested in finding out more about the outstanding learning experience available at Longfield Academy to attend a range of events during the week beginning 5th October. These include:
- Open Evening - Tuesday 6th October, from 6pm until 9pm
- Open Days - Wednesday 7th October to Friday 9th October. Tours will take place at 9am, 10am and 11.30am each day
